Tragic Accident Claims Two Lives as Drunk Driver in SUV Crushes Cab on Delhi-Noida Link Road

New Delhi: In a heart-wrenching incident late Saturday night, a speeding Bolero SUV, allegedly driven by a drunk driver, jumped the divider on the Delhi-Noida link road and caused a devastating crash, killing two people and leaving one critically injured.

The victims, Suman Dhoopra (63) and her husband Sanjiv Dhoopra (67), were returning home from a family function in Noida. They had booked a BluSmart cab driven by 32-year-old Arjun Solanki, a dedicated family man from Greater Noida and the sole breadwinner for his household.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Bolero, traveling at high speed from the direction of Akshardham Temple, lost control, leapt over the divider, and smashed into a Baleno car before violently crushing the cab. The impact left one side of the cab completely mangled, with bystanders rushing to move the SUV and rescue the occupants.

Suman Dhoopra and Arjun Solanki were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Sanjiv Dhoopra remains in critical condition. The driver of the Bolero fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of devastation and alcohol bottles in the vehicle.

Arjun Solanki’s family, now shattered, struggles to come to terms with their loss. “Arjun was a devoted son, husband, and father. He worked tirelessly to provide for his parents, wife, and two children. This senseless act of drunk driving has destroyed our family,” said his cousin Yogesh.

An FIR has been registered at the Mayur Vihar police station, and authorities are actively searching for the accused. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and its devastating consequences.
