Leopard Safely Rescued from Gurugram Society After Intense 4-Hour Operation

Gurugram: A dramatic yet successful rescue unfolded in Haryana’s Sohna when a leopard, estimated to be a five-to-six-year-old male, wandered into Amol Ashiana Society around midnight. Alert residents immediately informed local authorities, who called in the wildlife and forest departments to manage the situation.
Wildlife officer R.K. Jangra speculated that the leopard may have entered the residential society through the basement parking area, likely in search of food or fleeing a territorial conflict with other leopards. The big cat eventually found refuge inside the society’s sewage treatment plant.
A rescue team promptly arrived, cutting the grill of the plant and setting up a cage to capture the animal. Initial attempts to coax the leopard out by creating noise proved ineffective, prompting the team to spray water inside the plant. This tactic worked, and the leopard emerged, allowing the team to safely secure it with a net.
After ensuring that neither the animal nor any residents or rescuers were harmed during the operation, the leopard was released back into the Aravali forests. Officer Jangra commended the team for their skillful handling of the situation and the safe conclusion of the four-hour ordeal.
