Kejriwal to “Expose BJP’s Intentions” as Political Battle Heats Up Ahead of Delhi Polls

As tensions rise ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced plans to hold a press conference on January 12 to “expose the dirty intentions” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) toward slum dwellers. Kejriwal revealed that the press conference would take place at a slum allegedly targeted for demolition by the BJP after the elections.

In a post on X, Kejriwal accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of “lying” and “abusing” him and the people of Delhi. “Today, Amit Shah ji abused me and the people of Delhi a lot. The people of Delhi will answer this in the elections. Amit ji told a lot of lies to the slum dwellers. Tomorrow morning, I will hold a press conference from a slum which they have planned to demolish after the elections. I will expose the dirty intentions of the BJP with full evidence,” Kejriwal wrote.

This announcement comes after Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on Kejriwal during the ‘Slum Dwellers’ conference in New Delhi. Shah criticized Kejriwal for what he called a lack of progress in addressing the city’s challenges, including pollution and access to clean water for slum residents. Shah also accused Kejriwal of spending extravagantly, saying, “The toilet in Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ is more expensive than the slums in Delhi.”

Shah assured slum dwellers that the BJP’s manifesto would bring relief to their problems, describing it as a “guarantee” from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Every person living in a slum will be given a permanent house. PM Modi has already provided homes to over 3.58 crore poor people across the country,” he said.

The verbal sparring highlights the intensifying battle for Delhi’s assembly elections, set for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. As both sides present their visions, the issues of housing, development, and governance remain central to the political discourse.
