Mercedes-Benz India Shatters Sales Records in 2024, Plans to Launch 8 New Models in 2025

Mercedes-Benz India has celebrated a remarkable achievement in 2024, registering its best-ever yearly sales with 19,565 units sold—an impressive 12% growth compared to 2023. The company’s continued success has been driven by a robust demand for luxury cars, including a notable rise in sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), which nearly doubled in 2024.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz is set to launch 8 new models in 2025, including the next-generation electric vehicles, as the company aims to sustain its momentum. Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Santosh Iyer expressed optimism, despite challenges in the latter half of last year when market growth slowed to just 2-3%. Even then, the brand saw a 16% rise in sales, fueled by a strong demand for high-end models priced above Rs 1.5 crore.

Iyer highlighted that Mercedes-Benz’s focus on enhancing its product portfolio and expanding its sales network will be pivotal to the company’s future growth. The company has planned to add 20 new luxury outlets in 2025, extending its reach to emerging markets like Jammu, Patna, Kanpur, and Agra.

The electric vehicle segment has proven to be a major contributor to the brand’s success, with sales growing by 94% in 2024. Mercedes-Benz’s electric vehicle offerings now account for over 6% of its total sales, a promising sign for the future of sustainable mobility in India.

As the company continues to strengthen its footprint, it is also focused on delivering a luxury experience to its customers by upgrading its existing outlets and adding new ones. With a dedicated investment of over Rs 450 crore from franchise partners, Mercedes-Benz India is set to transform its network for an enhanced customer experience.

Mercedes-Benz’s trajectory in India reflects a consistent upward trend, as the company sold 1.5 lakh units in the last 10 years, compared to just 50,000 in the first 20 years. This impressive growth showcases the brand’s increasing presence and success in the Indian market.

The automaker also introduced two new BEVs: the G580 with EQ technology Edition One (Rs 3 crore) and the locally produced EQS SUV 450 (Rs 1.28 crore). These new models underscore Mercedes-Benz India’s commitment to a sustainable future while meeting the growing demand for electric vehicles in the country.
