Priyanka Gandhi Slams BJP Leader Ramesh Bidhuri for ‘Cheeks’ Remark, Calls for Focus on Real Issues

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri for his controversial remarks about her, labeling them “ridiculous” and “unnecessary.” She urged politicians to prioritize meaningful discussions on pressing issues instead of indulging in distracting comments during election campaigns.

Priyanka Gandhi Condemns Distraction Tactics

Speaking to the media, Priyanka responded sharply to Bidhuri’s statement where he compared the roads in Kalkaji to her “cheeks.” She dismissed the comment, saying, “It is a ridiculous remark. He never spoke about his cheeks. All this is unnecessary. During elections, we should talk about the important issues of the people of Delhi.”

The Congress leader emphasized that elections should be an opportunity to address public concerns, not a platform for derogatory remarks.

Bidhuri’s Remarks Spark Political Backlash

The controversy erupted when a video of Bidhuri’s statement surfaced online, shared by AAP MP Sanjay Singh. In the video, Bidhuri promised that if BJP came to power, they would make Kalkaji’s roads as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks.

Amid widespread criticism, Bidhuri expressed regret, claiming his comments were in reference to previous remarks made by Lalu Prasad Yadav. He also accused Congress of staying silent on similar statements during Yadav’s tenure as a minister.

AAP Chief Kejriwal Reacts to Bidhuri’s Comments on Atishi

This isn’t the only remark causing controversy in the run-up to the Delhi elections. During another rally, Bidhuri made comments about Delhi CM Atishi’s surname, claiming, “Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father.”

Reacting strongly, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal condemned Bidhuri’s remarks, accusing BJP leaders of crossing “all limits of shamelessness” and “abusing” CM Atishi. Kejriwal asserted that the people of Delhi would not tolerate such behavior and would respond decisively in the upcoming assembly elections.

Delhi Elections: A Tough Battle Ahead

The Delhi assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, 2025, present a challenging three-way contest among AAP, BJP, and Congress. AAP, which secured landslide victories in the last two elections, faces an uphill battle against a resurgent BJP and Congress. The results will be declared on February 8.

This controversy highlights the need for campaigns to focus on policy and public welfare rather than personal attacks, as Delhiites prepare to decide their future leadership.
