Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: Voting on February 5, Counting on February 8, Announces CEC Rajiv Kumar

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has announced the schedule for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, marking the first major election of the year. Voting for all 70 seats in the national capital will take place in a single phase on February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8.

India Nears 1 Billion Voters
CEC Rajiv Kumar highlighted India’s growing voter base, noting that Delhi has a total of 1,55,24,858 registered voters. This includes 83,49,645 men, 71,73,952 women, and 1,261 third-gender voters. Among them are 24,44,320 senior citizens, with 2,77,221 voters above the age of 80.
CEC Addresses EVM Allegations
Responding to concerns over electronic voting machines (EVMs) and election integrity, Kumar reaffirmed their reliability. “EVMs are foolproof devices for counting votes. Allegations of tampering are baseless. There’s no question of invalid votes or rigging,” he stated.
