Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait Meets Arvind Kejriwal Amid Protests and Delhi Election Build-Up

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait met Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The meeting also included AAP leaders like Sanjay Singh and senior advocate KC Mittal, with discussions focusing on welfare issues raised by advocates.
Key Topics Discussed
Tikait shared with the media that advocates brought up several welfare concerns, including better transportation facilities between courts and the implementation of the Advocate Protection Act. “They mentioned that once their government is formed, these issues will be addressed in the first Cabinet meeting,” Tikait said.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh echoed the sentiments, stating, “The meeting went well, and key issues related to lawyers were discussed.”
Protests at Punjab-Haryana Border
This meeting comes as farmers continue their protests at the Punjab-Haryana border in Khanauri, demanding a legal guarantee for a minimum support price (MSP) for crops. These protests, led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, began on February 13 last year when their march to Delhi was blocked by security forces.
Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 39 days, has called for more farmers to join the movement on Saturday. Despite his deteriorating health, Dallewal has refused medical aid, standing firm in his fight for farmers’ rights. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann assured that government doctors are regularly monitoring his health, but Dallewal has remained resolute.
The meeting between Tikait and Kejriwal underscores the intersection of political discussions and the ongoing farmer movement, with the issues raised reflecting a shared concern for advocacy and welfare.
