21 Cybercriminals Arrested for Defrauding People of Rs 125 Crore in Nationwide Scam: Gurugram Police

In a significant breakthrough, Gurugram police have arrested 21 cybercriminals accused of orchestrating a massive scam that defrauded people across India of Rs 125 crore. The arrests were made following an extensive investigation that involved reviewing data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), as reported by Priyanshu Dewan, ACP (Cyber).
The criminals allegedly posed as officers from courier companies, tricking victims into believing they owed money or had parcels that needed to be cleared. In reality, they were scamming people out of large sums. The police have recovered 16 mobile phones and seven SIM cards from the accused, which were likely used to execute the fraudulent activities.
The arrests took place in November and December, following a coordinated effort between various law enforcement agencies. ACP Dewan stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to uncover further details about the fraud network and its operations.
This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat cybercrime and protect citizens from online fraud, as the cybercrime landscape continues to evolve.
