Jaipur Tragedy: Gas Leak Explosion Claims 11 Lives, Leaves 40 Injured on Jaipur-Ajmer Highway

A devastating accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway turned tragic on Friday, claiming 11 lives and injuring more than 40 people. The incident unfolded when a truck carrying chemicals collided with an LPG tanker and several other vehicles near the Bhankrota area of Jaipur.
The collision triggered a massive fire, which swept through the area within minutes, reducing properties and vehicles to ashes. CCTV footage of the scene reveals a terrifying blaze engulfing a nearby property and smoke filling the air as flames spread rapidly.
Eyewitnesses reported that thick black smoke and flames were visible from nearly a kilometre away. The fire caused extensive damage, affecting a 300-metre stretch of the highway and burning at least 30 vehicles.
Superintendent of SMS Hospital, Dr. Sushil Kumar Bhati, shared that over 60% of the injured victims suffered severe burns. Ambulances and fire services were immediately dispatched, and the authorities worked tirelessly to control the fire and assist the wounded.
Rajasthan Chief Minister BhajanLal Sharma, accompanied by Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, visited the SMS Hospital to meet the injured and ensure they received immediate medical care. A helpline was also set up to assist families and provide support.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar confirmed the horrific scale of the accident, stating, “Nearly two dozen vehicles caught fire, and the destruction extended to multiple trucks and trolleys near a petrol pump.”
The tragedy has caused significant disruptions on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, with long queues of vehicles stranded in the aftermath. Authorities continue their efforts to investigate the incident and support those affected.
