Three Teenagers, Including Two from Bihar, Killed in Violence-Hit Manipur

Manipur’s ongoing unrest claimed three young lives on Saturday in two separate incidents, leaving communities in shock. Among the victims were two teenage construction workers from Bihar and one local youth.
In the first incident, police commandos in Thoubal district of Imphal valley encountered a group of armed individuals early in the morning. The police, after following their vehicle, were met with gunfire, leading to a shootout. One individual, identified as 18-year-old Laishram Prem alias Loktak Singh, was injured and later succumbed to his wounds at a private hospital. Police apprehended six others and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, suspecting the group of being linked to insurgent activities.
Later in the evening, at around 5:20 pm, tragedy struck again in Kakching district. Two teenage construction workers from Bihar’s Gopalganj, Sunalal Kumar and Dasharat Kumar, both aged 19, were shot dead by unidentified attackers. The incident occurred on the Kakching-Wabagai Road as the teens were cycling back to their rented accommodation at Kakching Bazar. Despite police efforts to rush them to a hospital, both succumbed to their injuries on the way.
These incidents underscore the deepening crisis in violence-hit Manipur, where local residents and migrant workers alike remain vulnerable to targeted attacks, leaving families mourning and communities searching for answers.
