Rahul Gandhi Meets Families of Sambhal Violence Victims, Offers Support

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met with the families of the victims of the Sambhal violence at his residence in Delhi’s 10 Janpath on Tuesday. He was accompanied by AICC general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The meeting comes after the Uttar Pradesh government denied permission for the Gandhi siblings to visit Sambhal earlier this month. On December 4, while en route to meet the victims’ families, both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were stopped by UP Police at the Ghazipur border. Rahul Gandhi criticized the move, calling it “anti-constitutional,” and expressed his willingness to travel alone under police supervision, but was still not permitted.

The violence occurred on November 24 during a court-ordered survey of a Mughal-era mosque in Sambhal, leading to clashes between protesters and security personnel. The incident resulted in the death of four people and left several others injured.

During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi assured the grieving families of all possible support, sources confirmed.
