Delhi-NCR Schools Allowed to Shift to Hybrid Classes Amid Air Quality Concerns

In response to Supreme Court directives, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has allowed schools and colleges in Delhi-NCR to adopt a hybrid teaching model, combining physical and online classes wherever feasible.
This decision comes as part of eased restrictions under Stages 3 and 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The Supreme Court had earlier highlighted the lack of air purifiers in many households, emphasizing that keeping children at home did not necessarily protect them from poor air quality. Additionally, concerns were raised about students missing mid-day meals and struggling with limited access to virtual classes due to resource constraints.
The CAQM has urged the governments of Delhi and neighboring NCR regions to decide on the implementation of the hybrid model. While the Supreme Court declined to relax GRAP IV measures broadly, it recommended tailored approaches for students to ensure continued education amidst pollution challenges.
