Dehradun Tragedy: Car Crash Claims Lives of Six, Survivor’s Account Awaited as Authorities Investigate

In a heart-wrenching accident in Dehradun, six young lives were lost in the early hours of November 12 when a speeding car collided with a truck near ONGC Chowk. The sole survivor, Siddhesh Agarwal, remains in critical condition at Synergy Hospital, with authorities awaiting his recovery to understand what led to the tragic incident.
The collision involved an Innova reportedly traveling at high speed, with initial reports suggesting it was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it crashed into a container truck. The impact was so severe that the scene was described as catastrophic, with parts of the wreckage and the victims’ bodies scattered across the road.
The victims have been identified as Guneet (19), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goyal (23), Atul Agarwal (24), Kamakshi (20), all from Dehradun, and Kunal Kukreja (23) from Himachal Pradesh. Their bodies were recovered and taken to local mortuaries at Coronation, Doon, and Indresh Hospitals.
A video reportedly captured moments before the accident surfaced online, showing the group enjoying an evening together. Eyewitness accounts and preliminary findings suggest that Atul Agarwal, who was driving, might have been involved in a race with a BMW, attempting to overtake at speeds over 100 km/h. The car, which belonged to Atul’s father, a prominent firecracker businessman from Saharanpur, had just been purchased during the Dhanteras festival.
Social media platforms quickly removed disturbing footage showing the aftermath of the crash due to its graphic nature. Authorities continue to urge the public to refrain from sharing such distressing content out of respect for the victims’ families.
The Uttarakhand government is reportedly drafting a new road safety manual in response to the incident, hoping to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
