Abhishek Banerjee Proposes Performance-Driven Overhaul to Mamata for TMC District Bodies and Municipalities

KOLKATA: In a bid to bolster the Trinamool Congress (TMC)’s grassroots reach and effectiveness, senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee has presented a proposal to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling for a performance-based revamp within the party’s district organisations and municipalities.

Abhishek, who serves as the party’s national general secretary and is widely regarded as the second-in-command, emphasized that this reshuffle would prioritize performance over mere loyalty. He hinted at significant changes that could impact leaders across the 125 municipalities currently under TMC’s control.

“Accountability is the cornerstone of this proposal,” Abhishek said during a candid conversation with journalists at his Kalighat residence. “Holding a position isn’t enough—everyone must demonstrate tangible results in their roles within the party. Loyalty alone will not suffice.”

By realigning the party’s leadership structure, Abhishek hopes to infuse new energy into the TMC, ensuring that leaders remain motivated and focused on delivering results, especially with elections on the horizon.
