Haryana Poll Results Affirm Stability, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Monday that the recent Haryana election results have reinforced the people’s desire for stability, which was also reflected in his government’s return to power for a third consecutive term at the Centre. His comments came as he prepared to lead the BJP’s campaigns for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

Speaking at the NDTV World Summit, Modi highlighted that his government, now in its third term, is working with unprecedented speed and scale. He emphasized that India has become a beacon of hope for the world, which is currently facing various global challenges, including ongoing conflicts.

Modi described India as having a “double AI” advantage, referring to the combination of “aspirational India” and “artificial intelligence.” This synergy, he said, drives rapid development. He also cited India’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the distribution of vaccines to multiple countries, as evidence of India being a reliable partner in times of crisis.

The prime minister emphasized that India’s progress does not incite envy but rather joy, as the nation’s growth benefits the global community. He noted that India’s relationships with other countries are built on trust and reliability, not taken for granted. Reflecting on India’s history, Modi remarked that while the country was unable to take advantage of previous industrial revolutions due to colonization, it is now fully prepared for the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), and is developing the necessary skills and infrastructure.

Modi highlighted India’s achievements in digital public infrastructure (DPI), often discussed in global forums, and the government’s role in making technology accessible to all. He pointed to platforms like UPI, PM Gati Shakti, and ONDC as examples of how technology can promote inclusion, transparency, and empowerment.

India, according to Modi, is not just a developing country but also a rising power. He stressed that the government is making quick policy decisions and pushing forward with reforms, with several international rating agencies revising India’s growth projections upward as a result.

Looking ahead to 2047, Modi spoke of a forward-looking mindset embodied in the concept of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), which has gained public consciousness. He emphasized that the potential of India’s young population can propel the nation to unprecedented heights.

He noted that the 21st century presents humanity with unique challenges, such as the need for stability, sustainability, and solutions, and that India is striving to address these issues. Modi expressed pride in the fact that his government is the first in six decades to receive three consecutive mandates from the people, a sign of trust and stability, further evidenced by the recent Haryana election results.

In the Haryana polls, the BJP won 48 out of 90 seats, defying exit polls and securing a third consecutive mandate, mirroring the success seen at the Centre. With the focus now shifting to upcoming elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, the BJP is working to retain power in the former and unseat the opposition in the latter.

Modi underscored his government’s achievements during its third term, including infrastructure projects worth over Rs 9 lakh crore, work on eight new airports, a Rs 2 lakh crore youth package, Rs 21,000 crore transferred to farmers, and health insurance coverage for senior citizens over 70 years of age.

He also mentioned that the stock market has grown by six to seven percent in the last 125 days and that India has hosted several global events focused on critical sectors such as telecom, digital futures, fintech, semiconductors, and renewable energy. Modi noted that India’s growth has led to a rise in research quality, patents, and trademark registrations, with around 2,500 global companies now operating research centers in the country.

The prime minister concluded by affirming that India’s growth benefits global peace and stability, and that the nation’s efforts are directed at ensuring these outcomes.
