85 Indian Nationals Released from Russian Military, Efforts Ongoing for 20 More: Foreign Secretary

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced on Monday that 85 Indian nationals have been discharged from the Russian military, with ongoing efforts to secure the release of an additional 20 Indians.

This issue is expected to be a key point of discussion during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Modi had previously raised the need for the early discharge of Indian nationals serving in the Russian military during his talks with Putin in Moscow in July.
