45-Year-Old Woman Killed in Crocodile Attack While Bathing in Odisha River

Kendrapara, Odisha:
A 45-year-old woman lost her life after being attacked by a crocodile in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Monday, forest department officials confirmed.
The incident occurred at Tanladia village, which falls under the Rajnagar forest range near the Bhitarkanika National Park. According to Forest Range Officer Chitaranjan Beura, the crocodile dragged the woman into deep waters while she was bathing in the Kharasrota river.
The forest official added that the woman’s family will be given ex-gratia compensation. As per the revised compensation policy, the forest department will provide ₹10 lakh to the family after completion of medico-legal procedures.
The incident adds to a concerning trend of human-crocodile conflict in the region. In the last 22 months alone, 11 people have died in similar attacks near the national park.
