BMW has officially revealed the updated 2026 XM, now crowned as the most powerful production vehicle in the brand’s history. Debuting originally in 2023, the XM has undergone significant enhancements, particularly under the hood and in its feature set.
For 2026, BMW has streamlined the XM lineup to a single trim, featuring an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain. At the heart of this setup is a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 577 hp and 553 Nm of torque. This is complemented by an electric motor integrated into the transmission, adding an additional 194 hp. Together, the hybrid system delivers a combined output of 738 hp, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels.

Enhancing electric performance, the SUV now features a 26 kWh battery, and the onboard charger has been upgraded from 7.4 kW to 11 kW, reducing charging times significantly when using an AC fast charger.
In terms of aesthetics, the 2026 XM introduces a striking new Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic colour under BMW’s Individual program, along with the option for 23-inch Jet Black alloy wheels. A unique “Welcome Light Animation” activates when the vehicle is unlocked, enhancing the premium experience.
Inside the cabin, buyers can choose from three new luxurious interior themes. Two feature full Merino leather upholstery — Night Blue with Vintage Coffee and Black with Vintage Coffee — covering nearly all cabin surfaces.
