2025 Renault Duster Arrives in RHD Format: A Closer Look at the Creta Rival

Before its much-anticipated launch in India, Renault has introduced the third-generation Duster in South Africa in a right-hand drive (RHD) format. This rugged SUV, a direct competitor to the Hyundai Creta, is making waves with its new design, advanced features, and multiple powertrain options.

A Step Closer to India

Renault discontinued the first-generation Duster in India in early 2022, leaving the brand’s lineup with models like the Kwid, Kiger, and Triber. However, the French automaker is now gearing up to bring the all-new Duster to India by 2026. In South Africa, the SUV starts at 489,999 Rand (approximately ₹23.36 lakh, ex-showroom).

Bold & Rugged Design

Built on the CMF-B modular platform, which it shares with Dacia, Renault, and Nissan models, the new Duster takes design inspiration from Dacia’s Bigster concept. Key highlights include:

Striking front fascia: Y-shaped LED DRLs seamlessly integrated into the chrome-accented grille.

Rugged stance: Vertical air vents, a bold lower grille resembling a bull bar, squared wheel arches, and roof rails enhance its off-road appeal.

Sleek rear design: Sharp Y-shaped LED taillights add a modern touch.

Tech-Loaded Cabin & Safety Features

The new Duster is packed with technology and safety features to enhance comfort and protection:

Dual digital screens: A 7-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.

Premium audio: Six-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system.

Comfort & convenience: Climate control, redesigned AC vents, rear AC vents, power-adjustable front seats, Type-C USB ports, and power windows/mirrors.

Enhanced safety: Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including:

Automatic emergency braking

Traffic sign recognition with speed alerts

Lane keep assist

Powertrain Options

Renault offers three powertrain choices globally:

1.2-litre turbo-petrol with 48V mild-hybrid: Produces 128.2 hp.

1.6-litre strong-hybrid petrol: Combines two electric motors with a 1.2kWh battery, generating 138 hp.

1.0-litre petrol-LPG unit: Produces 98.6 hp, paired with a 6-speed transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

For India, Renault may also introduce the familiar 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine from the previous Duster, along with manual and automatic transmission options.

Price & Competition

Expected to arrive in India by late 2025 or early 2026, the new Renault Duster is likely to start at ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against strong rivals, including:

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Toyota Hyryder

Hyundai Creta

Kia Seltos

MG Astor

Skoda Kushaq

Volkswagen Taigun

Honda Elevate

Citroen C3 Aircross

Additionally, SUV-coupe alternatives like the Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt will offer more choices for buyers in this segment.

With its refreshed design, improved features, and diverse powertrain options, the 2025 Renault Duster is shaping up to be a compelling choice in the compact SUV market.
